I have a 2012 cruze 1lt RS and I just changed back to my factory rims from my winter tires and rims. I tried to relearn the tpms sensors using the manual method with no success. So I am wondering if it is possible to relearn the sensors without the relearn tool? both my winter tires and summer tires have sensors in the tires. Thanks in advance.

In mid-year 2012, GM discontinued the ability for owners to TPMS relearn, you need to take the vehicle to a tire shop or back to the dealership.

Thankfully mine is an '11 because I like to do my own work at home. Does a shop or dealership charge for doing this? It's pretty inconvenient if you ask me, having to go to the dealership to relearn the location of the tires when I can, and have been able to, easily do it at home on my own. Pretty soon the consumer isn't going to be able to touch or work on their cars at all, and sadly that's the direction it looks like we're headed.
