Today I tried to remove the mirror out of the housing to see if I can purchase new covers with leds on them. I pushed glass down and tried to pop it out with screw driver like I have read. The mirror decided it wanted to crack instead of coming off. Can someone tell me how to remove the mirror ? I ordered a new mirror from gmparts direct .

...haven't attempted removing outside mirrors yet, but here's an exploded illustration that might help (looks like three bolts #5 from inside need to be removed):

There are 3 screws to remove. 4mm hex I believe One is hidden by weatherstrip.- you can remove the mirror, just pull it off - but you have to pull hard - the mirror slides DOWN onto the round piece when the piece is glued to the glass.
