I have UK model 2.0 vcdi diesel auto LT 150 bhp. poor fuel consumption 27.8 mpg combined. Poor quality windscreen collects stone chips too easily. Unsafe instruments can not be read in strong sunlight or going fast poor ride, No Watts Z link suspension. New model dispenses with space saver wheel, only useless gunge supplied. No Day Notice Lights, No tyre pressure monitor, No powered foldback door mirrors. Expensive insurance, poor resale value. I shall not be buying another CRUZE goodbye Chevrolet

GM seems to be VERY good at "playing" the MPG tests, both EPA and EU models have high MPG numbers that many customers find difficult to achieve.

The ONLY exception seems to be Eco models with MANUAL transmission which seeminly exceed their EPA numbers rather easily.

For sure there are some better... and probably more expensive cars.
For sure car dealers are no saints.

But buying a car without noticing:
- no day notice lights
- no tyre pressure monitor
- expensive insurance
- no power foldback mirrors

Why didn't you just asked the dealer?
Or just look at the car for little longer till you paid for it.

MPG - I agree - no true values in GM specifications.
I checked some real fuel consumption reports in the Internet.

The suspension type - easy to check or to be asked about.

IMHO whatever you buy next time can be same surprise if you don't get more interested before you buy it.

^Agreed. Do your homework before you buy. Except for fuel economy, all the dislikes mentioned should have been realized even before buying the car. I wouldn't blame Chevrolet for that.

Make sure you drive the Diesel Cruze in stop and go traffic BEFORE you buy it because I have already read reviews of the poor/sloppy shifting. Reminded me of what my 2011 Cruze LTZ RS did and was still doing when I dumped it 6 days after a GM engineer said that it was "operating as designed"! Bought a 2013 Buick Verano Turbo same day I got rid of the Cruze!

LOVE the Verano! NO comparison to the Cruze no matter what GM says! It's like night and day! Car is 6 months old with 4,200 miles and NOT one problem/concern! It's too bad that when you have a LEGITIMATE problem, GM does NOT stand behind you UNLESS you get a LEMON LAWYER! THAT makes GM sit up and take note!

CRUZE ECO manual

I am happy with my mileage. I drive 60 miles/day 90% highway at 65 mph and get 39 to 42 depending on trips to phila-100 miles round trip and short trips at lunch and weekends. last winter during the coldest week I got 36 and that was the worst mileage, I think it is because the dealer cut my plastic engine shield completely off for the recall. did not get mileage that low the previous winter

"Howdy, GFraser." Yes, many Cruze owners are NOT happy about how GM handled the engine shield "FIX"...ie: cutting the center out instead of simply drilling a couple small drain holes.

And, yes, that shield removal DOES increase aerodynamic drag, so a slight loss of FE is likely: GM told NHSTA the affect of the shield cutting could be offset by increasing tire pressures, but GM didn't say how much air pressure. However, since most people gain about 1-3 mph when they "air UP" their tires, it is likely that is about the loss resulting from the increased aero drag under the car from the shield cutting.

Hate that you dislike your Cruze. I have the LTRS and have added a K&N panel filter,soon to install a Flowmaster exhaust. It's never going to perform like my Corvette ZO6, but I have no complaints. It's a pretty hot performer and with all the equipment it's like driving a little Cadillac. Just added a LeBra from Amazon and it really dressed up the front end. It's more car than I thought it would be.

Any noticeable improvements with the K&N panel filter in the Cruze? I ran one of their panel filters in my 03 Monte but I just have the standard paper filter in the Cruze right now.
